Natural Capital Project is being developed in sequence with Natural Capital Plan. Both applications will be set up to cover the spatial extent of natural resource management regions. Natural Capital Plan is for strategic, subcatchment-level investment planning, and Natural Capital Project is for capturing specific projects at the paddock scale.
Natural Capital Project is a modelling platform that needs to be populated with locally specific data to represent the current conditions of all indicators and the locally specific effectiveness of each potential project type against each indicator.
We plan to package access for both Natural Capital Plan and Natural Capital Project on a region-by-region basis.
Different project types will be progressively released across regions, commencing with the most common types of project, such as revegetation and land management practice improvement.
Regions where it will apply
The pilot region for Natural Capital Project development and testing is the Queensland Murray Darling Basin (QMDB) region (subject to change).
